Wayfare

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 September 2026

Wayfare is a travel guide for people who travel on their own. This page explains what the app stores, why, and who else sees it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

Wayfare does not sell your data, does not show ads, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Everything below exists so the app can do its job.

What Wayfare stores about you

Your account. If you create an account, we store the email address you sign up with. You can also sign in with Apple or with Google, in which case we receive the identifier those services give us, and the email address unless you choose to hide it. You can use most of Wayfare as a guest, without an account at all.

Your travel profile. The answers you give in the 40-second setup: your interests, budget range, how much company you want, your pace, and your skill level for graded activities such as trekking or diving. This is what produces your match scores. It is not shared with anyone.

What you make in the app. Places you save, journal entries you write, budget entries you record, trips and plans you build, and meetups you mark yourself as attending. Journal and budget entries are private to your account.

Your location. Only while you are using the map, and only if you grant the permission. It is used to centre the map and to work out what is near you. It is not stored on our servers.

Your subscription status. Whether you are on the Visitor, Wanderer or Insider plan. Purchases are handled by Apple; Wayfare never sees your card details.

Who processes it

Each of these has its own privacy policy, and each acts on our instructions.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account from Profile → Delete my account inside the app. That removes your account, your profile and the content you made, and it cannot be undone. If you would rather ask us to do it, write to the address below and we will.

Children

Wayfare is not aimed at children and is rated 12+. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the app tells you.
